This place is so yum! The arroncini is delicious, we also had the pork bangers with mash which is awesome – it’s really great during winter because the fire warms the entire place. Would definitely go back.
If you are looking for fresh Italian food ( pasta in particular), then this is the place to be. The food seem to be pretty enjoyable for the most part of my evening. I think there are improvement areas like ensuring that the dishes are consistent ( one of my fellow diners ordering the same pasta dish as me had no garnish while my pasta had a bit of garnish). Also, the dessert decorations were great but I didn’t enjoy eating the flowery stuff along with the actual dessert. Service was okay.
I must say I was skeptical when after walking up and down seventh street in Melville looking for a place to eat, he suggested we try out La Stalla. The food surprised us as we enjoyed the pork belly that was beautifully cooked. A perfect marriage of flavor, succulent meat and the hard crackling, coupled with a lovely green salad. The food was lovely, but we could not stop being bothered by the enamel plates. As authentic as they may be, for some people, they carry a lot of unpleasant memories one wishes to forget.
Rustic decor, great idea to have mezzanine floor.Food is good, bit on the expensive side for breakfast.Apparently all food is organic, but who knows.Staff are friendly and eager to serve you.
It’s a 3.5. In Melville it keeps up the vibe of casual dining in basic spaces.Did the restaurant week menu at 3 courses for R250. Starters were the lamb arancini on mint puree, absolutely delicious followed by the pork belly and wood fired chicken. Pork was good, chicken initially was a bit dry but the redo was smoothered in sauce, juicy and tender. Loved the sides served, parmesan risotto, beans and a green salad. The chocolate fondant was decadent and oozy, the lemon tart was abit too tart for me though when mixed with the ice cream and mascarpone did taste better. Service was good and in keeping with the sister franchises, menu options read well with a nice cocktail and wine selection.
