This place has food that brings me back every time. Service is good but even if it was bad the food is good enough to make it a gem of joburg. Feels like Lisboa away from the tourist trails, eating with the locals.
What a terrible experience. We came here a few years ago and loved it. We visited the restaurant again recently and was terribly disappointed. The service and food was atrocious! My husband ordered a “chicken prego” served on a sesame bun and not even a proper Portuguese bun it had almost no sauce and was served cold. I had prawns which were ok, but frankly quite bland. I asked for extra lemon ( which should be an obvious accompaniment to prawns) but never even got it. On top of everything the restaurant looks horrible. It’s completely unkept and the bathrooms are filthy. It was such a waste coming here and this place will never see us again.
Often find myself returning to this little restaurant, but never sure what to expect. Service is always excellent, ambience unpredictable but usually vibrant, food always very affordable and edible but quality varies. Last night, however, I had the best espetado and chips imaginable and my friend a superb chicken peri-peri for an unbelievably good price, served by one of the best waitresses I’ve come across in years. In addition, a bottle of Beyerskloof pinotage was marked up by less than 50%. The entire experience was faultless.
It is the best food in the world .the food is to die for the chicken is tastey and delicious and ❤the service is so friendly the design is like madeira it’s self
