What a beautiful setting. (1 point of the 3,5)You have your high tea in the piano lounge, prettily set-up for an intimate tea with your mate.High tea kicks off with a glass of bubbles (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Then a selection of savoury treats, followed by the desserts, with your choice of teas or coffees. Most definitely not worth the R500, for 4 small bite sized sarmies, and 5 desserts.I think this is way over-priced for what you get.Way better choices out there for half that price.
What an incredible place! If you are looking for a restaurant that goes the extra mile, look no further! It was my anniversary recently and this restaurant made it special for us.This entire hotel is beautiful. The hotel has a luxurious feel from its decor right down to its gardens and pools. You feel like royalty when you walk around this hotel. However beautiful it may be, it is the service that truly stood out for me. Their staff and I mean every single staff member takes the time to greet you and exchange pleasantries. The Terrace Restaurant itself was also nothing short of amazing. They organised us a romantic spot in one of their private gazebos outside. They scattered the floor with roses and lit up the entire gazebo with delicate candles. It was most definitely a romantic setting.Their food menu is sophisticated and adventurous. I ordered a salmon dish that had egg plant, coconut flakes and pineapple (to name a few ingredients). My partner went with a classic mutton curry. Needless to say, we were utterly satisfied with our dishes. In terms of their drinks menu, it will accommodate any wine connoisseur with ease. They have pages and pages of different wines you can choose from. I however decided to sip on the freshest apple martini I have ever had. When it came time for dessert, I ordered a carrot cake. It was heavenly with its cream cheese sorbet and gelatin cubes. Definitely a modern take on a classic dessert.Just when we thought our night could not get any better, they brought out a platter of sweet treats congratulating us on our anniversary. The Terrace Restaurant and the Saxon Hotel itself, I would highly recommend for any special occasion or when you just want to feel pampered. 5 stars all round.
Went to the Saxon hotel for high tea. It was ok given how expensive it was. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. High tea here consists is 3 courses & can select from a variety of teas, which I didn’t find any that I really enjoyed.
