I would really like to commend Yvonne for her service, having great food is a treat but to have a waitress like Yvonne tend to us makes the experience superb. Thank you Yvonne.
We eat out a other sushi establishments and when compared to two other places we regard as really good Yamakado is average. What really put me off was the ginger and wasabi being served in the same bowl. The juice from the ginger mixed in with the wasabi is just not on. Renovations they have done are good I must say. Next time we will try the buffet

I tried sushi buffet and was very disappointed. Being Asian, I know very well of sushi and can clearly tell whether the taste is good or not. I must point out sushi was overall mediocre and below average among the sushis I have had in South Africa. The rice was not seasoned properly at all and fish was not that fresh. Both miso soup and hot and sour soup were extremely salty. I had to mix it with hot water. Service wise, it seemed short staffed and my last order was tossed between servers and eventually got neglected. Personally I prefer the sushi of Yamazaki which was there before Yamakado.
It’s quite sad that restaurants like this have the ratings they do. In my opinion it’s simply due to the location. I enjoy sushi as you generally leave feeling full but not heavy. The sushi at this restaurant is some of the worst I’ve ever had. The rice was so stodgy that it stuck to your palate. Everything seems to be drenched in sauce – most definitely not authentic sushi. In my opinion if a place has an all you can eat buffet – it’s all about quantity and very little about quality.
