After our teambuilding activities in the sun and a soothing massage at the spa, the team went to Carnivore for lunch. I was there a couple of years back and not much has changed except the cost per head. We were shown to our table and I must admit, the service was a tad bit slow. Drinks orders were placed and eventually the soup and bread arrived. I skipped the bread and soup, but the others enjoyed it. Once the meats arrived, I took a bite of all the different types and venison. Those who opted for the soup and bread was “full” in no time! Finished off with a malva pudding with custard and a cuppacino.
Carnivore is a wonderful African themed restaurant, which offers a wide variety of flame grilled meats – served on a sword. It’s a wonderful place celebrating our rich South African heritage and meats.I took my family out for Sunday lunch. Recommendation here is to secure a booking – especially if you have a fairly large group. Upon arrival you are greeted with a welcome drink called dawa – there are alcohol and non-alcoholic options. The drink I found to be a little too sweet for my liking but that’s a preference really.Starters were French onion soup served with fresh roll and butter – which was delicious. But this was just the prelude to the main event. The main event was a selection of meats – venison sausage, pork sausage, chicken, chicken livers, venison meatballs, venison biryani. The game selection consisted of impala, kudu and crocodile meat (for the brave). The selection of meats was fantastic and served with great enthusiasm by the waiters. Dessert was a choice between fruit salad, ice cream, malva pudding n custard and cheesecake. The malva pudding and custard was a winner though the cheesecake was a little off.A great venue with wonderful food. #carnivorousBliss
I have been to this restaurant about 8 years ago and I must say that it’s just as good as it used to be.A German colleague of mine loves to experience Africa therefore a group of us took him to the Carnivore in November 2019.All the braai meat tastes excellent. However the Eland breyani (which is new to the menu) was my favorite. The meat just falls apart. It’s so soft and tender and was my best meal that day.The tables have a selection of sauces for you to add to your meat as well as some salads. There’s also traditional pap with a relish that’s presented in cast iron and enamel bowls. They provide the table with a flag. If your flag upright on top of the sauces tray they will continue to serve the table. Alternatively if you need a break merely place your flag on the table and the waiters will stop serving you. However they are always nearby to assist your needs. If you satisfied and cannot eat any meat merely surrender by placing the flag horizontally at the top of the sauces tray. There`s a selection of desserts that you can choose from there after, creme Brule, malva pudding, fruit Salad and ice cream, cheesecake, etc. (you can only choose 1 dessert)I had the cheesecake and that was the only thing that I did not enjoy. The cheesecake had a jelly like texture which made it slightly strange to eat.The staff are extremely friendly and pose for pictures and assisted us with taking photos.Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of the food as it was too busy eating and I simply forgot about my phone in that moment.
