Terrible experiences on 2 occasions. Condiment holders are disgusting dirty an sticky. Waiter brought the wrong drink 2x when he did managed to appear after searching for him. Waiters are rude and intimidating and demand tips for non existent and terrible service. We had to order from the bar mostly. Decided to give them another chance and returned thinking it was just the one waiter whom could be the problem, but never again. We waited ages for our bill, the waiter decides to disappear and keep all change which was about 50% tip to himself , this when we ordered most of our drinks from the bar. Staff had a loud argument in front of us whilst we were eating. What the hell??? This used to be such a nice place. It has become a place I will be avoiding at all costs
Worst Experience EverThe worst part about this experience was the fact that despite the bad service and us having to order for ourselves at the bar; our waiter and his manager demanded the 10% tip and to top this off when ordering at the bar the bartender doesn’t even give your change back. The Service is pathetic we were there from 4pm till 7 in those 3 hours we were served twice and the rest of the time we had to go to the bar to order, the second time we ordered with the waiter we waited 30min and then had to remind him about the drinks that we had ordered earlier. When paying the bill we had to spilt the bill between 3 couple for ourselves( seen as they don’t do split bills for a table) and despite the service each couple gave the waiter a small tip, he then demanded that there was not enough tip! We explained that that was the tip decided on by the table, he then walked away. As we where leaving he stopped us and he said the manager has sent him back as the tip was short as it wasn’t 10%!!! We had a few words with the waiter and proceeded to leave without give him the additional money. I just want everyone to know there is no law forcing you to pay a tip and if you experience bad service you do not even need to leave a tip.
So first off, as a general rule before entering the beer tasting room – do not be late because you will be a great target for roasting by the owner himself! The beer tasted great (each and every one of them, especially the pale ale), the atmosphere is homely and the owner is incredibly down-to-earth-take-no-rubbish kind of man. A quarter of our company team came here for a fun work outing and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It was great learning about the process of the beer and was wonderful to see the fiery passion still brewing in the owner’s eyes while he gave us all a talk about the history of Gilroys (and a few blunt life lessons). The food was definitely pub grub, the music was good old fashioned hits and the people were all very accommodating. Don’t expect to be catered for hand and foot, everyone is down to earth and there for the beer and the atmosphere. Will certainly visit again soon!
