Twist Restaurant focuses on fresh, seasonal country-style food. It is ideal for families and we enjoyed our breakfast and dinner buffets here. There was a huge food offering for both meals and we were spoilt for choice. My kids especially loved the pastas and desserts, as well as the delicious honeycomb produced on-site.
My review for Twist is based solely on the breakfast buffet and I have not tried the restaurant for lunch or dinner.Considering the reputation and prestige around the Mount Grace Hotel I found the breakfast highly disappointing. The restaurant was incredibly busy due to a few large parties there for the weekend so it was a tad chaotic.I had to rummage through a number of plates before finding one that was not cracked and was not still dirty which put me off from the start. The food itself is standard breakfast buffet fare however the egg station was so busy and badly managed I eventually gave up trying to get a fried egg.Breakfast at Twist definitely put a damper on my visit to the Mount Grace.
I was very disappointed. This is a buffet only restaurant, and the food did not even approach mediocre. At R 600.00 for 2 people, excluding wine and drinks, I won’t be back.
If you’re staying at the Mount Grace you’ll likely get better value for money at the Rambling Vine. The buffet at Twist is fairly average and ridiculously priced.
