The Wondercave Restaurant is a small cafe with a picnic area that is situated inside the Lion and Rhino Nature Reserve. We had breakfast here after an early morning abseil into the cave ( an incredible experience). I would recommend the light breakfast, at R40 for an egg, bacon, grilled tomatoes and toast, it was really good value for money. The staff at the restaurant and information kiosk are friendly and knowledgeable and the tour guides wander around and chat to you about the tour at your table. Â This is a great place for a family outing.
I visited these caves last weekend as the Wonder Cave in Kromdraai has been on my geology bucket list for years. In my opinion, these beautiful caves are ‘THE’ caves to see whilst in Gauteng and (on the grander South African scale only fall just behind the Sudwala Caves in Mpumalanga and the Cango Caves in the Western Cape) it really is convenient to have the Wondercave Restaurant just above it after climbing up all those steps.The Wondercave restaurant has quite a limited menu and almost serves as a kiosk but it has wonderful views and on my visit, there was an entire family of warthogs visiting the restaurant (Pic attached). I popped into this little cafe for a quick drink and although I did not eat, I found the service friendly and the guides very helpful. This spot compliments the cave well.
