We arrived as a party of 6 without a prior booking on a Sunday for late lunch. I had been calling for hours to try book but no one answered the phones. Management went to a lot of trouble to prepare a table on the outside patio for us. We ordered starters and mains, which took very long to arrive. The manager did apologize in advance as they were full and usually only take tables who have booked, but the delay was very long. It took about 45 minutes for the starters to arrive and then a further half hour for mains. They did bring us bread and complimentary sorbet to keep us going though. The food was delicious. Beautifully plated and very good quality. The lamb was a bit heavy on the pepper but besides that the food was excellent. The Norwegian salmon and grilled kingclip were particularly good.
We had a date night at Bijou. The place is beautiful and I wish we had done lunch instead to take in the lovely views. One outstanding element was the service. I would rate the service a 5. We were attended to from the time we got there and always had someone check up on us. We were given a complimentary starter of chicken liver parfait. And I’m not too keen on the dish so the chef generously sent out a different starter for me. That for me is such wonderful service. The chef also came out to check up on us. For mains we both had the steak and the chocolate mousse for dessert. I do feel the meals were a bit plain compared to what we expected. Other than that we had such an amazing evening.
Toadbury Hall is well known as a stylish wedding venue and their Sunday picnics It is a beautiful spot of countryside, only a few kilometers from the hustle and bustle of The Big City.Toadbury Hall has got some old-world (old school?) charm, and I absolutely loved the classic and stylish feel.  The service was really impressive, and the food was scrumptious – a Sunday lunch worthy of the title of ‘a damn good Sunday lunch’.We started of with a amuse bouche of pickled fish –  a great start to the ultimate comfort food meal. The salmon starter and the chicken dish I had as main meal was so tasty! I am still dreaming about that parmesan mashed potatoes and creamy leeks! After this very satisfying lunch we decided to take a stroll on the grounds. Such a romantic place, a gorgeous chapel on-site, the green lawns and even a few peacocks strutting their stuff for the lunch guests. A little bit of countryside heaven. *This is a condensed version of our blog review
