Still reeling from the cultural immersion, I was expecting traditional cuisine such as mgqusho or mugodu but the only real African food on the menu was pap. I guess the exotic “crocodile” and “ostrich” could be arguable interesting, but the food did not follow through the South African cultural theme. Food was tasty I suppose, but service was lack luster. Chef seemed annoyed to repeatedly tell guests what each dish was, perhaps they should have labels indicating what’s in each dish.
aha Lesedi is located a stone throw away from Hartebeestpoort Dam the heart of the African bushveld within the Cradle of Humankind, yes a World Heritage Site. The buffet style restaurant and two bars puts you in real holiday mode. I have always felt it better to stay over here whilst dining, experiencing the traditional dishes and appreciating the cultural dancing whilst staying in one of the individualized cultural villages that personifies the different cultures. The buffet meals range anything from an English breakfast to samp, pap and worse (better known as sausages) to tripe, chops mash and gravy. There is definitely something to keep you seated for at least an hour or two. A very colourful experience indeed.Probably the most fascinating cultural village of the people in this part of South Africa. You would find yourself visiting five traditional homesteads inhabited by Xhosa, Pedi, Zulu, Ndebele and Basotho, all in one little village. Lasedi Cultural Village “Our culture is the light of our nation – whoever walks here amongst our cultures at Lesedi can also see the light.”Enjoy the essence of Ubuntu ataha at Lasedi Cultural Village where the food and experience will forever leave a warm impression in your heart.
Nice outing and a great setting. The restaurant serves traditional South African food. Very tasty, a fantastic buffet. Great place to take foreigners for lunch and for locals. Friendly staff.
Nice experience but drinks not priced for the South African market.R35 for ciders, R30 for local SAB beers and R25 for soft drinks.Always take my own red wine and was charged R75 corkage fee.Buffet style menu with crocodile, ostrich, chicken, lamb and beef sausages @R165 p person.Nice outing though.
