Monte De Dios is lovely setting for a venue and Sunday lunch with live music and all the rest of it; craft beer, burgers and tapas are also on the menu. However should you be going for a Sunday breakfast let me give you my 20 20 vision in hindsight. There is no breakfast menu and we were told the chef could make a full English breakfast. I reluctantly gave the only option the nod while my wife inquired about a vegetarian option or perhaps pescetarian if that’s going. I received a standard issue english breaky while my wife’s sausage and bacon was replaced with fish fingers; the kind reserved for a tantrum prone 5 years old. If you’re planning on a picturesque breakfast here, I’d highly recommend being incredibly assertive and specific in asking for what you’d like to see on your plate. For all l know if I had asked for a salmon eggs benny on bed of edamane beans I would have got it.
Food and service is terrible. We didnt get half the tappas we ordered and the staff are useless. We were a table of ten people and half the people didnt get their food. Couldnt get a waiters attention. The venue and atmosphere is great but I wouldnt come back here or recommend this place for food and service.
We attended a lunch time event function here last week and was just blown away by the amazing view. We dined out doors and afterwards enjoyed a live music festival in the amphitheatre. Canapes of salmon to start were delicious and the baby tomato and goats cheese quiche and Springbok Carpaccio for starters were both excellent. My main course of Chicken roulade with back bacon and served with potato gratin and veg was tasty. Dessert buffet looked amazing but I didn’t have space to accommodate any more 🙂 This would make a magical setting for a wedding or birthday party, and they also do movie and picnic nights in the amphitheatre.
