I have always been quite fond of Indian cuisine and I was very excited to try Tranna when a friend recommended it to me. I was blown away by the perfectly crisp golden samoesas and creamy chicken korma. It was also more than enough to share or to distribute over two meals, which is always good news if you are a foodie on a budget!
Have been to TRANNA twice now only went again to give benefit of the doubt. The first time was an awful experience the chicken was overcooked and the sauce was sweet even though we asked for spicy chicken curry. The aloo parotha wasn’t evenly rolled out thick around the edges and just didn’t taste nice. The yoghurt was very sour again not what it should taste like. The second visit my husband ordered chicken tikka masala..again we asked for spicy and it just tasted like pure sugar with a mild hint of spice. Definitely not a authentic taste very disappointed. The poppadoms we ordered were not fully cooked so again not very good standard. Overall we will not return again, being Indian I’ve never tasted such bad curries very cheap quality produced food.
Tranna Hazeldean – Bad! Please introduce your chefs to the lady of Sahil Curry Den in Montana! Real Indian Food! I am feeling ripped off! Twice in two days – I am really stupid – Lamb Biryani at Tranna’s Hazeldene a whole R140.00 per portion (including two pieces of potatoes and two pieces of lamb not even the size of a R5.00 coin!) Taste? Bad! Sahil Curry Den – the same portion! Meat and meat and meat with potatoes for only R50.00 for the same portion!!!!
So probably one of the better and more consistent Indian restaurants in the East. Ordered take aways today as I was really feeling for their chicken roti. It’s massive and tasty and good value for money. I could not finish it all and it really is good. Add to that the masala chips and we have a winner. Order did not take long and overall a good experience.
Went here for the first time on a rainy day with a friend and I was surprised how neat and clean the restaurant is as I expected something in the line of a Chinese restaurant. We were served with poppadums which is actually nicer for me without the sauces/dips provided. I have ordered the chicken korma, medium spiced. Medium was not hot at all, I will go hotter and spicier next time. It was absolutely delicious though, the chicken was perfectly cooked and the portion was very big. I was very impressed that the plate was hot but disappointed that it was not very clean as it had marks on when it was set in front of me, so I had to deduct half a point. Service was good and we did not wait longer than 20 minutes for our food. I will definitely take my husband with next time!
