My newesr favourite place! The food is amazing, freshly prepared and yummy! The baked goods are from heaven. Carien is 1 of the most friendly, warm and hospitible hosts I have come across in a long time. I will most definitely become a regular.
Awesome baked treats and a nice relaxed setting. I ordered a bee sting and cappuccino and the bee sting was delicious. I took 2 stars off for the disappointing, watery cappuccino (a bakery with bad coffee is just wrong). Not only was the coffee bad, but I had to wait a very long time for it to be made at a time they were not busy at all. If their coffee was as good as their baked goods, I would have given 5 stars.
Stopped for a bee sting at Der Zucker Backer. First wanted to get a take-away, but decided to have it there with a double espresso. I can’t talk enough of the taste of this bee-sting. Consistency, as always! Excellent!
Extremely disappointing. Most definitely not the place I remembered from when they were in Hazlewood.We ordered two toasted cheese sandwiches and waited more than an hour during which time the waiter didn’t check on us once. I had to go look for him to find out where the food was. He slammed it down on the table with the exscuse that they were busy, but only 4 tables had patrons. No more than 12 guests in total with a waiting staff close to that amount. He immediately disappeared again before we could ask for salt (there was none on the table) or something to drink.We could hear our waiter and 3 more of the waiting staffloadly having cell phone conversations and conversing with each other sitting in one section of the restaurant. No waiter was available to ask for a bill after we tried to eat the dried out sandwiches and wilted salad, without anything to drink.It was our intention to have some Bee Sting for which they are known, but after the bad experience we decided to pay and leave.We had to go to the till to pay.The decor and ambience was also unappealing.Will definitely not visit again.
I went to Der Zucker Backer this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed my Sunday morning brunch. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive, despite having a number of impolite and picky customers on their hands. I had the chicken pie with potato salad and my companion had the chicken burger and chips. We both enjoyed out meals immensely. The chicken burger and pie were well-cooked, juicy and delicious. I found the potato salad to be an interesting recipe – it was warm and had a sour taste to it. This restaurant is a must for all those who love fresh food and of course the amazing confectionary items.
