Fanie’s Place is a local watering hole for casual affordable dining and drinking. No airs and graces here. Inside it’s all smoking area, so I sat outside. Wonderfully tranquil on a warm evening, listening to the music from inside (SA vernacular!) and the conversation of the crickets outside. Samantha gave me a friendly welcome and service. T-bone came more medium than rare, I like it more rare and ordered it so. But the basting was delicious. Veggies were a surprise -real fresh carrot slices served al dente and fresh cauliflower, steamed with a thin creamy cheese sauce – most agreeable. I left happy and contented.
Fanies has always been a good spot for a Friday afternoon kuier after a long week. I have only ever had drinks and snack type foods at Fanies but have found it an enjoyable venue.
