I have visited Ouma’s Tea Garden three times in three months recently. (Oct to Dec 2017). The setting is rustic and peaceful and I really recommend it for a relaxed outdoor tea garden experience. It is also a nice place to sit and read a paper or book over a cup of coffee or with a well priced glass of wine. (Not for the wine snob though) Or have a relaxed visit with easy people. The food varied. The first time I ordered the pie it was really very tasty and fresh, served with salad and french fries (and quite recommendable) but the next time it was absolutely NOT that fresh and served only with a portion of french fries. If it was served like that on my first visit I would not have ordered it on a return visit. On one visit a cup of coffee was served only half full while a proper cup of coffee was served on the next. Scones were delightful. Breakfast was nice. Unfortunately the service was consistently poor (mainly slow) on all three visits. At some stage on the last visit it felt it was non existent. If you feel very relaxed and forgiving and are prepared to tolerate poor service, the relaxed friendly ambiance and setting as well as the quite low prices might be enough to encourage you to return. My personal favorite at this tea garden? – the trees!
Went for Sunday breakfast: Arrived at 9:30, waited 20 min for a waiter, ordered coffees, teas and food. Waited 30 min for the coffees and teas, waited 70 min for them to tell us they have lost our order. Ended up leaving at 11:00 hungry and irritated. If you like dogs: It is a dog friendly restuarant with items on the menu for the dogs.If you dont like dog and barking in your ears for 1h30min while waiting, I would not recommend it.They were understaff, not prepared and seemed like they did not care about us.
What a pretty setting. The market was on there was a jazz band playing it turned into quite the romantic tea and scones. There cappuccinos are really great, good coffee. The scones were delicious with ham and cream or cheese. Really, well priced. It’s just a nice spot for tea.
Breakfast was good, full menu with great variety. Setting is what gives this tea garden the edge. Relaxing and tranquil tea garden which meets expectations. Go for a walk inside the property and enjoy a hearty breakfast or lunch thereafter.
We have been here many times and will go back many more. This tea garden is in a really lovely setting, shaded by huge tree’s and full of history. The service is really slow and you have to get the same waitresses attention several times to get your order. The breakfasts we had were filling and good. The drinks were interesting, mine was very refreshing in the end even if it was fairly sweet. They have lots of nature walks and trails to take with spectacular views, you can bring your dogs along most days.
