I almost never use the word cute (like a real man!), but thats what Kookaburra Kafe is. It’s family friendly and relaxed enough for my kids to sit in their chairs for more than 5 minutes. So I’ll obviously be going back there when the kids turn into monsters and I need a breather. The service was pretty good and you will get nothing but friendly smiles from everyone. Just one thing to note though, the menu is in Afrikaans, but someone will gladly translate it for you, if you (like my wife) are unable to do so yourself. To drink I had the Berry Simprise and what a simprise it was! It was really refreshing and helping after a crappy day at work. It’s basically strawberries, cranberries and mint in berry blaze and lemonade. It’s so good that I had two!For mains I had the pea and ham soup, while the wife had the chicken Kookaflat. The topping on the Kookaflat was really good man, but the base was totally rock hard, to the point where even I struggled to cut through it. They just need to fix the base. On the other hand, the pea and ham soup was amazing and was full of flavour. It’s perfect for a winters day, but to be honest, it was so good I’d have it any day at all.
KookaburraInteresting and colourful cafe with lots of things to buy as well, anything from handbags to vintage paint.Extremely friendly service with the manager chatting with the clients and asking about the experience and if there is anything (suggestions) to better their service, food and drinks. You can sit inside, which according to myself seems a little busy but you can also sit outside and that will be a whole other experience. There is a huge tree outside and you can sit in its shade and enjoy a Mrs. Cappuccino which is their regular size cup. Mr Cappuccino is larger. They have an interesting menu with unique names and a little bit of Afrikaans Culture is coming through which is really nice. The whole vibe is very relaxed and chilled, so much that we didn’t even realize that we were waiting quite a while for our menus. We drank in the fresh air, the beautiful colours and enjoyed the refreshing feel of the place. It’s a place to try out for yourself. Experience the friendliness and enjoy feeling like you have found your soul when you walk out of there!
