We booked for tonight, left a function early, speeded, drove 20 km to find the placed closed because of a power failure. Can understand this but not why i could just not get a phone call since they have my number to tell me of the situation. Don’t know whether this is poor service or arrogance not caring about your customers.disappointing!!! Frans Nel
Might be the best ravioli in SA! They make it fresh and it just melts in your mouth! The steak Florentine is a winner too and can stand up against any great steakhouse. The service is relaxed, knowledgeable and super friendly! Make sure to book as this little gem is booked out most nights
The Hazelwood original. Lovely small and intimate Italian restaurant with interesting pasta dishes. I had the T-bone which was perfectly prepared! It was served with yummy veggies.
Let’s go with Wow! This is not your typical Italian fare, it’s way better. We booked for a Saturday lunch in the middle of the month and arrived at the small establishment full of expectations having heard numerous good things about Alfie’s. The extensive yet simple menu and specials offered plenty of variety and everything sounded superb. After quaffing some of the house branded wine (delicious) we settled on the following starters: Salmon tartare x2, Calamari with the balsamic and chickpea, and a trio of CrostiniAll were beautifully presented and mouthwateringly good. We also had some of the freshly baked focaccia and ciabatta, both delicious but would be amiss not to praise the ciabatta. Baked on site daily and while we were there quite a few people came in just to buy the bread. With a steady serenade of Paolo Conte we settled on the following mains: Rib-eye, Veal Escalopes, Gnocchi of the day, Salmon of the day, Tagliatelle with Salsiccia. Once again beautifully presented and none of the dishes could be faulted. The veal was superb and the freshly made pasta outstanding.Desserts: Espresso, Grappa and Pannacotta, Cappuccino, Affogato, and chocolate flan. Once again all absolutely delicious. The Pannacotta is out of this world, and the Mauro coffee an absolute treat. I can’t recall which Grappa it was but it was really smooth and went down well with the espresso.Definitely recommended, booking essential. If you want great Italian food that is super delicious and not the usual bland offerings, this is the place. Restaurant is small and intimate and we’ll definitely be back. When the kids want to go back and it doesn’t even have pizza in the menu, you know it’s a winner. Next stop their pizzeria and deli around the corner.
