After reading all the reviews and being recommended by friends, we made our way to LM on a Wednesday eve. Friendly staff, welcoming. Upon ordering our bottle of wine we were greeted with a small (but enough) complimentary chicken livers with 2 small warm rolls. It was very tasty and nice and spicy, we thought we were in for a great evening. As it being our first time visiting, we asked the waiter for recommendations. He recommended the prawns, fish of the day and the kingklip. I ordered baby chicken and prawn combo while my wife opted for the kingklip. The kingklip was terrible, no other words for it. Upon serving the kingklip the waiter apologised for the portion and quality and said there is another portion on the grill as we speak, why serve it then? The photo shows the portions. It was very, very dry and chewy. I had a hard time trying to figure out what it was, if it was indeed kingklip it must have been frozen for years. My prawns were tasty, a baby chicken is usually between 600 and 900grms, this was probably 350. Not allot of meat on it. After we finished our meals, well my wife only her chips, the other portion of fish arrived, even worse. I usually floss my teeth after climbing in to a lambchop or corn on the cob, however I had to floss to get the fish out. As it was the first time there and the waiter knew it was, as we mentioned it when we asked for recommendations, and then being served that, it’s clear that the food is very inconsistent and that they rely on locals who obviously don’t mind the blunders now amd then. No idea where all the good reviews come from. We will never go back.

This past Sunday: booked table not ready at the appointed time, yet walk-ins seated well before us. Harried waiter took ages to take beverage and food orders and then proceeded to serve the main courses, skipping the ordered starters (which, in all fairness, we were not charged for). Both our (quite pricey) kingklip dishes were overdone to the point of Kalahari desiccation, and the chef(s) applied salt with such a heavy hand that we felt like visiting a desalination plant after the meal.  Hugely disappointing experience.

A really great dining experience. All four of our party were wowed by the friendly service and wonderful meal we were served. The Best of the Best prawns were indeed the best I have ever had and the LMM steak was tender and very tasty. We took our own wine and the corkage was reasonable. This was not our first visit to LM in the East and it certainly won’t be our last.

We have frequented LM in the East for years. We have always had excellent service and the food is outstanding. Very good value for money. Always assured of a great meal and evening out.
