The gorgeous autumnal menu at Zest was truly fantastic. Few restaurants still do seasonal menus, and Zest never fails to deliver menus complementing the season. The service was truly impeccable and the wine menu, phenomenal. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the food served as well as wine pairings.Starting off, the pea and potato soup is an absolute treat. The texture is silky yet interesting, with a gorgeous mussel crème that adds a meaty undertone. The sweetcorn and ginger soup is also divine, with deliciously juicy calamari resting on top. The home baked bread is always an absolute winner – the griddling infuses the bread with a smokey flavour and creates the most divinely crisp exterior. For mains, the pork belly was sublime. The fat was rendered off well and the mashed potatoes were incredibly smooth. I could only really fault the fact that I couldn’t find my carrot gel as promised on the menu. The confit duck was tender and quite delicious, too. The paprika risotto is absolutely fantastic! The desserts also sung of autumn. The coffee panna cotta was silky and well balanced. Everyone also enjoyed the chocolate mousse and the white chocolate cheese cake, but the star of the show is, as always, the lemon freak.Zest is a lovely, cozy gem of a restaurant. The service is always phenomenal and the food has never dropped its standard in the least. Definitely a truly underrated star hiding out in Pretoria.

The food is less than mediocre with everything being over sauced, the owners breed a terrible “hospitality” culture as the waiters were scared to ask the owner when we requested to speak to them after they were out of stock of 3 of the wines we wanted. There are some great other options just around the corner

Absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Have been there multiple times now. Everything is just amazing! Staff are amazing, food is out of this world and ambiance is perfection.
