We were fortunate enough to stay over & therefore got to try breakfast, lunch & dinner.I will start with lunch because that was our first meal. We ordered from the set menu of the day. Variety was not a problem with four starters, three mains & three desserts to choose from. I skipped the starter but tried the Chinese chicken breast with stir fry veg & noodles. The chicken was a bit dry & needed more of the sweet & sticky sauce which was quite good. The noodles & veg were fine, maybe a little on the salty side. The chocolate tart was nice enough & the ice cream was really good. For dinner we had the set five course meal. The first course was butternut soup. The soup itself was delicious but for some reason there was a dollop of ice cream in the middle (WHY?!) & this made it overly sweet & cold. Second course was poached chicken galantine stuffed with chicken liver served with a cauliflower croquet. Very nice, I cannot fault it at all!! Third course was the halloumi served on a bed of roast veg. I did not enjoy this at all, the halloumi was tough & overcooked (chewy!!) The “main” was a beef fillet with red wine shallot reduction, mash & roast veg. The fillet was very dry & not done as per our requests. It definitely needed more of the very tasty shallot reduction. The malva pudding & ice cream for dessert was great. I must mention that the chef was very kind & accommodated us with some changes to the menu for certain things we didn’t eat & we did appreciate this! Unfortunately though we did not get the “fine dining” experience we were hoping for. Breakfast was the typical buffet with fruits, yogurt (only 1 flavoring) & cereals. Bacon, sausages (only beef), a few extras (potatoes, chicken livers, etc) & an egg station. Limited amount of pastries & breads available but it was a good breakfast nonetheless.

We loved having lunch at this beautiful, open and welcoming restaurant at the Kievits Kroon Spa and Resort. The restaurant is well placed in the resort and because of this it’s surrounded by magnificent gardens and provides the restaurant with that perfect mix of luxury meets natural beauty and relaxation. He food was very good, and we enjoyed the chicken, it was well cooked and succulent, with a host of different flavors due to it being so well spiced. We really enjoyed our lunch, the only complaint I had was the service was amazing, I didn’t find the waiters very helpful and friendly. They in fact weren’t the most approachable, but that didn’t ruin the restaurant funnily enough. Our overall rating: beautiful, calming and a worth while place to eat while visiting Kievits Kroon for that much need massage!

We booked a package of picnic, wine pairing dinner, stay and breakfast. The location makes you feel like you outside of gauteng tucked away in some winelands. The start with the picnic basket filled with quiche, beef skewers, mini chicken pregos, salmon/trout roses, strawberry wraps, biltong, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate brownies, creme brulees and chocolates was defimitely plentiful and alot for two ppl!. No drinks are included, thats additional costs.Dinner was a Paul Cluver wine pairing event hosted at the Lord Charles bar private dining room. Nothing really stood out. The dishes included a chicken roulade, mushroom truffle oil soup, sea trout, duck & loin, a granita and a brownie to end. Wines didn’t quite work for me.Breakfast was the standard buffet so eggs, bacon, sausages, cereals, cold meats etc. Added touch of fresh oysters and champagne but a limited selection of pastries and no hot pancakes/waffle station. From the moment you get there service at eateries and hotel are excellent. All in a pleasant stay.
