Anya’s Tea garden came as a pleasant surprise on our first visit. The staff are exceptional and attentive. The food was well prepared and beautifully arranged on our plates. We both had the Banting burger – deliciousFor desert we had carrot cake and Flourless chocolate cake with honey nut laté coffee and Chai laté.Definitely worth a follow up visit.
A lovely tea garden. We went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and the service and quality of food was very good. The side salad that came with my quiche was especially delicious.
I am terribly saddened to have to give Anja’s Tea Garden such a low rating because a place like this can so easily succeed. Yesterday I went to Anja’s with a friend and family and whilst the ambience is wonderful and the whole idea of the restaurant is so beautiful, I have a rather large problem with a restaurant located right next to a horse stable. I find it to be distasteful and unhygienic. My mom had the scones and cream and rather enjoyed the meal along with her coffee milkshake, which was unfortunately warm – totally not appropriate for a summer day and a milkshake. My friend and I both had the chicken pies which we both rather enjoyed. The three little pies were the perfect thing to start the weekend with. I had the strawberry rooibos iced tea and she had the ginger beer to accompany our meals. Towards the end of the meal was when things started going horribly wrong. My friend found half a spider in one of her pies. This is totally unacceptable of a restaurant regardless of its locale. She couldn’t finish her food and felt disgusted at the prospect of potentially having eaten a spider for brunch. We ended our stay rather quickly after that and drove home. By that evening my mother ended the day with a dose of food poisoning. She had mentioned that the cream and cheese she had with her scone weren’t cold and looked as if they had been left out on so hot a day. Despite the average service and the potential this restaurant truly has, my experience was utterly disappointing. I definitely will not be going back.
