When a colleague heard that I was coming out to visit my folks on the farm this weekend in Welbekend, he invited me down the road to Rafters Pub & Grill (on Garstfontein Road) that I have passed MANY times and could only describe as an expansive bikers bar. However, this Friday was a little different in that Steve Hoffmeyer was performing from 9pm and that truly is an experience for a Zimbabwean like me to behold! ;)What an unpretentious bar and restaurant offering a combination of live music, DJs, karaoke and even a Gospel hour on Sunday evenings! Yes, you heard me right..The drinks are always cold, the service at the bar is quick and the typical pub food isn’t too bad either. Honestly, I will definitely be there for the next ‘kuier’ to learn how to ‘sokkie’.
