Nice area to cool off in after puzzles and tricks and getting lost in the maze… Anyway, drinks were brought quickly and even though I cannot have alcohol yet there is a wide selection of cocktails straight from the Pilansberg. Definitely recommend it if you escape the maze!
Disclaimer: we didn’t make it through the maze and used the quick in instead. This activity was really fun, even though we couldn’t quite crack it. We were thirsty so we decided to go drink rather than get lost further with every turn. We had the beer tasters, you get to taste 8 different beers available on tap. It’s a really good variety, sweet and bitter, light and dark. We got popcorn with our beers too, a really cool overall experience. I would recommend coming in a group of 4+.
When we were at Sun city we got a free beer tasting at the Maze restaurant with our accommodation booking.There was a selection of 8 different beers to taste and it also came with a portion of popcorn. For those who don’t want alcohol there is a choice between ice-cream or soft drinks. The top of the restaurant has a nice view of the palace.
After crossing the long suspension bridge from the Entertainment Centre, the challenge begins! The Maze of the Lost City is a giant permanent maze constructed in order to resemble an ancient archeological discovery. The activity is family friendly, challenging and lots of fun. After completing the maze (or following the side shortcut that bypasses it – i won’t judge) you’ll find the Maze bar/pub which serves a wide selection of local craft beers that a welcome addition to countering the heat! It’s a super casual set-up and won’t take up much time so you’ll be on your way to do more adventuring around the resort soon afterwards. The views from the bridge and the bar itself are truly stunning.
It’s about the only hiking route I know that masquerades as a bar. The maze itself is fun to do – once – then you get over it. I do love the bespoke beers and ciders served here especially whatever that pink berry number is !! What does upset me is that these wonderful beers and ciders can’t be ordered anywhere else on the resort ! BUT WHY?!? – if you have a micro brewery on site I feel like the resort is under utilizing a gold mine. Let’s face after doing the tasting you end up really liking one or two and if you could order that same beer or cider from any of the bars on the resort like a coke then for the duration of your stay you feel like you have something special. Despite paying once and having access for the time you are there nobody is going to traipse back up to the maze for a drink. It’s sad because it’s an amazing view but not for a beer. There should be something else there to lure people up if the beers can’t be distributed around the resort.
