Whales Restaurant is a part of the Legends hotel group and as such services the guests from their hotel but is also open to the public with wonderful views from their deck.Their menu seems to have a strong German influence with their Eisbein being heralded by locals as the best in Plett but they also offer all sorts of other options such as seafood, African, Tapas and surprisingly really comprehensive Vegetarian selections. The only downside: No liquor license yet and a lack of decent quality coffee.. I really like their open thatched look and some of the personal touches (like the individual wine bottles with messages from loyal patrons), but the interiors don’t look seamless for some reason. Whales Restaurant may have tried to use too many different influences, colours and themes throughout: Whale paintings, black metallic mirrors, gold mirrors, traditional african relics, metallic turquoise cushions on beige couches, white table cloths, straw, African clay pots, a wooden wine rack, coconuts with plastic orchids in them.. the interiors are a little confusing and over-whelming. Full review to follow but all in all, I enjoyed my morning spent here relaxing.
