A very cosy restuarant, with a view! However, the food was not that good. Please do improve on that, together with the service – the waitress hardly checked on us.
On entering the hotel, you are immediately welcomed by a very cool elegance. The further you venture, though, the more quirky and lively the space becomes! There is a really interesting art exhibition on display, and if that doesn’t intrigue you enough, a huge ship is nestled in the corner among the reeds that you can actually walk through to reach the bar on the other side. The actual restaurant itself is simply decorated, leaving the artworks, as well as the beautiful sea views, to do the talking. As you would expect with a hotel, the menu is small – and not cheap. The servings are small as well, but in the case of a hotel, you should be aware that you’re paying for quality rather than quantity. I opted for poached haddock with poached eggs on wilted greens. I really enjoyed it because it is something I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity of trying, and it was lovely and healthy too. I must just mention how attentive and willing the staff are: my dad saw flapjacks on the menu and asked if they could modify them to how he preferred, and they went completely out of their way to do so.Overall, it was a really lovely morning. I really look forward to coming back, and will definitely be taking advantage of the gorgeous deck in summer, especially with a cocktail or two for sundowners. Without a doubt, Krystal Beach Hotel is a stunning asset to the Helderberg.
