Review based on a take-away:Service was prompt and efficient.Meals: Burger and salad: clearly the burger was cooked on a flat top, it was burnt on the outsides and dry inside. The salad was limp and soggy, cucumbers onions etc. This could be due to it being subjected to too much heat, or not freshly made.Flatbreads: this was good and tasty and a full meal. Gio0765094590
Very cosy restaurant. The staff are always very friendly and accomodating. The food is delicious and is great value for money. Have been here a few times and really cant complain!
Date Night Turned Delicious. We were very impressed by The Village Bistro. Unassuming and homely, The Village Bistro delivered well priced wine (we had Durbanville Hills Merlot) and delicious meals (calamari and pulled pork and pineapple flatbread). The calamari deserves a special mention because it was fresh, grilled and served with super crispy potato wedges. Absolutely perfect! We shared a chocolate brownie and a Dom Pedro for dessert, also delicious. We will be back! Good service, friendly staff, quick food and potent fire place.
8 months ago I though this place was a gem! Not sure what has happened since then but the quality of food and service has sadly dwindled! I am really not one to complain but I would hate to see this place disappear when something can be done about the food and service! The salt grinders don’t work and after asking for salt from the kitchen or something that works, I was given another salt grinder that didn’t work! Calamari starter was fine, schnitzel main was so poor. Chips are the processed type, no seasoning what so ever, mushroom sauce was warmed up cream with A LOT of thyme in it and 2 slices of mushrooms. Needless to say I was too scared to order dessert. Husbands burger patty was bland and not the same flavourful burger he remembers, half the seasoning missing, again also the same cardboard processed chips. Friends “baby hake” was just horrid. Still sweating from being deep frozen, smelt like freezer burn, no seasoning. Yuk! Lastly, the waitress paid little attention to us, I had to remind her a few times to bring things I’d asked for when I could get her attention or she wasn’t messing about with the other staff.
