I don’t know what score to rate this different slightly off beat ( in a good way) vibey cafe in woodstock! We went on a Saturday for lunch whilst parking from the Biscuit Mill overflow was still difficult to find. We had a great table outside under the awning and we’re seated to the quite good, if a little loud, sax and song from an elderly duo with a laid back rythym and repertoire. Service was slower than slow and bordering on unpleasant. We had to ask for menus, ask to have orders taken, ask how much longer the food would take, told after 40 mins that one item ordered wasn’t available because ‘there was no dough’, then ask for the bill and finally also for the card machine! Having said that my gnocii when it arrived was superb- light without being stodgy in a delicious creamy sauce with a couple of pecan nuts for embellishment. The risotto rice balls were also delicious as was the roast veg side order and the roast veg sandwich. Not so the bread and dip where the dips were pronounced revolting by all trying them. Also the chicken and chorizo pie (for which the dough was ultimately found) looked awful and described as OK- the casing looked as though it had been located in the back of a freezer somewhere. Process for all items were more than reasonable and in some cases really good value. I would go back just for the gnocci but they really need to jack up the service level which was way below par.
Stumbled into this place. Comfy spot, good vibe and good service. The portions were giant on the gourmet sandwiches we ordered and I liked that it was a different take on the fairly run of the mill approaches we’ve become used to. Worth a visit if you’re in the area. Relax in the soft seats and let your heart rate just ease off. My 4 year old thinks it’s the best place ever after sampling the bread platter with chocolate, peanut butter and caramel spreads. I stole most of the caramel.
