Shout out to Grace for being an absolute darl and allowing me to make many changes to my order. Was early for a show at the Artscapes and needed lunch. Decided to try this place out (given my history with the food at the Arts Cafe). Ordered the soul bowl, which usually comes with chicken and feta. However, I wanted a vegan version of it and they gladly replaced the animal products with butternut. Now I know this cafe is in a hospital and that the dish is called a soul bowl, but I don’t understand why seasoning like spices and herbs were shied away from. It was probably the cleanest thing I ate all week and I just had to order a plate of sweet potato fries (which was very yummy) to save the day. Will I return? Likely not.
Netcafe is the inhouse restaurant/coffee shop at Netcare hospitals. I visited the new one at the Chris Barnaard hospital on the Foreshore recently. The decor and layout is magnificent and they have a really great menu with a huge variety. It feels like a really homely coffee shop – a place I’d love to visit on a cold rainy day. There’s free wifi too. I’ve had breakfast here before which was great but this time just a five roses tea (which I’m pretty sure was actually Earl grey) but the service is really top notch and it’s kinda a cool spot next to Media24 and the convention centre.
