I like the harvest table here. The menu changes daily, but they seem to repeat items on certain days of the week i.e. like Friday are fried fish and chips days for example. Because the food is already prepared, it is great for a quick lunch during week days. You have the option of picking 1 – 3 salads and a hot food option for a set price. Their Israeli tomato salad is yummy and includes pine nuts. Their enchiladas are so yummy and love that they include black beans in the mince filling. Be prepared to wait however, if you are ordering off the menu. I also find that the harvest table food is better than the menu items.
Any large corporation understands that plying its employees with caffeine and chow is a sure way to regain a large portion of the salaries they pay out – captive audience and such.Well, this little restaurant in Media24’s revamped Mother Ship does it well. Spot your favourite journo or captain of industry or listen to some office gossip while you enjoy an a la carte meal or their Harvester’s Meal of the day (if you’re early enough – there were only scraps left by 1h20pm).My friend met me for lunch and had the Chicken Schnitzel (she did her happy food dance when it arrived and also praised the chef profusely). I ordered Battered Hake and was pleasantly surprised by the tastes: a distinct tumeric flavour in the batter and a small side serving of tartare-with-a-twist (little mayonnaise, strong mustard taste – a pleasant sensation). Each dish was an affordable R65.Either the waittress was upset or coming down with the flu. She served us with a sullen expression and didn’t smile despite our compliments. But she didn’t dampen our delight.I can foresee wanting to spend far too much time and money at The Eatery.
A nice spot in the Media 24 building if you need to take a break from work. They have soon good coffee. My salmon eggs Benedict was good but not great, hollandaise sauce was too runny not creamy enough.
