Very disappointing. The decor is modern with a few dutch inspired items scattered here and there but there were very few items on the menu that are actually dutch. The kroket was R30 a piece and was basically just tasteless deep fried mash potato with maybe a teaspoonful of lamb, if that. Even more disappointing was that they tasted exactly the same as the bitterballen. Plus it took less than 5 minutes to get from the waitress taking our order to us receiving it so I can only assume it was frozen. Not the place to go if you’re looking for genuine dutch dishes so don’t let the name fool you.
Dutch Haven is tucked away in a little local shopping mall and was very quiet whilst we were having coffee. The standout was the friendly service. The coffee was not as strong as I’d like, but a decent cuppa. If you have kids, there’s a jungle gym outside for them to play on. I wouldn’t rush back, but a good choice if you want a quiet coffee shop near Tygervalley.
