  Been here many times. Apart from the odd coffee while waiting for my car to be washed at the adjacent Total Garage I love going there to have a breakfast mid Saturday or Sunday morning.The waiters are mostly students and the service is as friendly as can be expected.Chickens run free outside amongst the tables and a play area for children. It is a farm stall so Inside home made preserves, home made bread, etc. are for sale.

  OUR ROMANTICE GET AWAY: PART 1During November 2015 my partner and I decided to take a romantic journey through the Cape West Coast.We have discovered a love for travelling through unfamiliar territory. My beau always teases me that Google is my best friend. So two weeks before our departure I sat with my “best friend” trying to discover new places that we have not yet encountered.On this sunny Saturday morning we set off for our first stop for a late breakfast at The Farmyard Farmstall, Melkbosstrand. Brimming with excitement as we viewed the Restaurant from the West Coast Road, with rumbling tummies I might add. First observation….fantastic location, crappy parking. Definitely child friendly with a lovely play park and seating outside for a lovely sunny afternoon meal.I’m not quite the sun lover so we opted for seating inside the restaurant. The inside lighting was too dark for my liking. Interesting food displays, everything you would expect from a farmstall I suppose. Old-fashioned dated furnishings which I quite liked.We first of all had to look for the waitress a somewhat friendly unsure young lady. The two of us noticed an upstairs seating area, which we enquired about and was very hesitantly informed by our waitress yes we may if we want to sit there.We were the only patrons seated upstairs and I certainly know why now. It was more of an attic area at the top of a house.When we were seated we could actually touch the ceiling. A scary sight I must admit. Flowers were pasted on the ceiling but it looked more like funeral wreaths, with a few guns which looked like olden day marlin lever guns stuck to the walls. Our cutlery was in a tin cup on the table and it was dirty, the cutlery not the tin cup. We had to ask the waitress to please bring us clean cutlery, she was not impressed with us at all. Our Farm style breakfast took quite a while to get to us, very simplistic and unspeakably distasteful. Disgusting! My beloved beau he had such a craving for a thick strawberry milkshake, boy-oh-boy was he disappointed. It was more like full cream milk with strawberry syrup, definitely not the milkshake that he had in mind. We had a hilariously bad breakfast experience and we had no option but to just laugh about our dreadful experience furthering our journey down the West Coast Road to our destination in Saldanha Bay! When we arrived we had high hopes but those we dashed in a few minutes after arrival.The food was definitely reasonably priced, but yes we all know the reason for that. Such a shame because it’s a really nice setting, this, however, is one of the only positive things I can say about our experience. The place is obviously run by people who no longer care of its reputation and the chef should be ashamed of what he/she is sending out of the kitchen. Let’s thee be warned!

  The service is slow and the food was cold. My daughters did not even want to eat their food. Very disappointed. Doubt I will ever go there again.
