The place is gorgeous – you can sit cosy in one of the rooms -each have their own personality or sit in the lounge staring and the stunning liquor display. The service was a bit slow when we were here and thus we left after the 1st drink.

Ruby Bar (soon to be renamed) is located on the ground floor of the Crystal Towers in Century City. The bar has plush seating and a magnificent bar backed by an enormous mirror. There is soft ambient lighting to create a relaxed mood for a long lingering visit. We booked one of the private pod rooms; this one named after Kingsley Holgate, the intrepid humanitarian adventurer. The room is filled with photos and memorabilia. The menu is simple and we ordered a tapas platter to share. It contained a magnificent spread of dishes. Tasty and moist lamb Rogan Josh with papadums (not flat bread as per the menu); outstanding tomato soup with calamari – almost pepared ceviche style and my favourite on the platter; the most tender salt & pepper deep fried calamari; subtly fragrant butternut and coriander risotto; corn & potato gnocchi (pillowy light & tasty) served with a sweet chilli salsa. Good portions and great value! Will be back to try the other platters!Phillip Black

Always stop by, with my mom who’s a regular. The venue itself is pretty cool – they really meant ruby. My drink was okay, it was dead which I found strange. – service was really slow on my last visit despite the fact that it was virtually empty
