As an Indian who is used to eating offal was not too a fan of ordering their offal prepared here. The chakalaka was good as was the herbs. Was not a fan of kapenta.
Been here a couple of times and it’s comforting having your home cooked meals so close. Very homey and comforting restaurant with such a welcoming vibe. Zim food is very plain and simple but it does it’s magic even in its simplicity. A must try for a different cultural food experience.
I know you can order food from this place on Uber eats etc. But do yourself a favour and go there. They have a lot of the foods from Zimbabwe. They even sell mazowe, peanuts, dried kapenta, JUPITERS! My favourite is that they sell mazowe by the cup for R10. So you can sit down and have a few flavours. Food was delicious. The guru is my favourite so far. They really do go the extra mile to give you a taste and feel of Zimbabwe.
This is a great restaurant if you’re craving home cooked food. It’s a small restaurant with nice Zimbabwean music playing in the background. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. The pap portion is quite big and I think they could’ve have matched the meat portion to match the pap portion. After you’ve done eating, they bring you a bowl to clean your hands. I think that was a really nice touch.
