We do love breakfast out on a weekend and are yet to find a favourite spot. We thought we had covered everything in our hood but after shopping at Pick n Pay decided to try their in-house cafe in Claremont. The decor is simple yet stylish, chairs and benches are comfortably. We were very surprised by their low prices and were dubious that the quality wouldn’t be great. Well we were dead wrong. The quality and portions were excellent.I had a big orange juice that was fresh and delicious. Hubby had a large cappuccino which was rich, dark and full of flavour. We both had the early bird breakfast consisting of 2 eggs to order (we had poached), grilled mushrooms, grilled tomato, 3 rashes crispy bacon, 2 pork sausages and 2 sliced of toast. For R46. Service was friendly and efficient. Everything was perfect! And we’ll be sure to be back.BigJoe
I normally go to kitchen cafe when grocery shopping at pick n pay or after the gym for their yummy mango berry smoothie (that I’d give 4/5)I decided to get a salad too the other day.. I was really unhappy with the fact that the lady preparing my food (she was the only one in the kitchen at the time) was coughing VICIOUSLY in the kitchen the entire time whilst preparing my food. Of course it’s not someone’s fault if they’re that sick but I’d at least expect the cafe to perhaps assign someone else to the kitchen then because that’s just selfish to consumers. I tried to eat half of it but I was too turned off to properly enjoy it. As a result, no surprises, I’m now getting a cold. Such a let down.
The food is great! I have eaten here often and have never been disappointed. The service is not very good. We seated our selves but a waitron did come and take our orders quite promptly and the food arrived in good time. Again to get the bill we went to the front instead of waiting for the waitron to come and offer the bill. But I love this restaurant when I need a quick bite to eat so I don’t shop hungry!! (The pick n pay is right there) This restaurant is also very good value for money!
I love popping in here for a quick, delicious breakfast. The toasted sandwiches are a hit and the food comes out quickly – great if you’re in a hurry. Don’t forget you’re sitting inside a Pick n Pay, so make sure you don’t mind a bit of noise. This is not a scenic spot, but the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable and it exceeds my expectations – good job, Pick n Pay.I recommend the Early Bird for breakkie.
