Excellent breakfast spot , delicious eggs Benedict and waffles. Throughly enjoyed sitting in the garden section outside lovely views of the mountain and good service.
Made a reservation for a work lunch in the square restaurant. Unfortunately we could not sit outside as the round tables could not accommodate a big crowd but the inside area was very accommodating. I loved the environment and decor- classy and modern. I had their sirloin with potatoe fries, white wine (it was a warm summers day and not an occasion for red wine) and a cappuccino. The food and drink was lovely and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back and reccomend this restaurant for a work lunch.
I had a really delicious steak at The Square for a friends birthday celebration. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite pretty. The only issue I had was with the service. Not the best or polite. But I guess the food slightly made up for the slow and uninterested service.
The food and wine pairing evenings are a great idea and Friday night was to showcase 3 Swartland wines. The winemakers each gave a short talk about themselves and their wines before the meal and circulated amongst the tables to chat during the dinner. The Cashew Nut Lavoche served on and bed of salt was interesting. Not sure why so much salt? The Force Majeure Chenin was light and crisp and suited to the Lavoche. The “Pink Moustache” was insipid but came to life with the Tomato and basil in the Tian. The pork belly was really good but the ostrich was really quite tough but tasty. The desert was tasty but very sweet. Overall a great evening and something to look out for in the future. Service was very good and the old building is always lovely.
