Stopped here for drinks and something to eat after visiting the shooting range. Had some beers and ordered a pizza. The pizza was nice but lacked flavor. Needed to add some salt which I usually don’t do. Service was good. Will return if I am in the area again.
We thought this would be a super time. We walked in and the place had the personality of a wet mop. Any place where weather is better than the ambience is a problem for me. Everyone else’s food was good, my burger sucked. We’re leaving right now. Going to find somewhere more exciting like a lecture.
We go there quite often and have never been disappointed!!!! Best fillet steak I have ever had!!!!! Thanx Dixies staff for always friendly staff and great food!!!
Waiters ignore you completely and are really unprofessional, waited forever for our food. It used to be a regular of ours but the quality of food has gone down a lot. Am not going back.
Dixies seems to have been around forever! It has a great setting overlooking False Bay. It’s pine wooden paneling gives a cosy warm feel but the decor is looking a little tired. Some years ago Dixies was known for its Dutch style food but more recently it has repositioned itself as more of a traditional steakhouse, increased its prices quite significantly and done away with the winter specials. Speaking of steaks they are consistently excellent if pricey. My only gripe is the boring veg accompaniments. When will they dump the pumpkin and go for something more modern? For starters I can recommend the calamari strips. Delicious and a good portion. The baked Camembert is also great. Just wish they would drop the squirty cream that accompanies it!We’ve always had good, friendly service and we’re certainly not tourists. I guess like any restaurant on the tourist route they get swamped unexpectedly from time to time.In all, a likable, relaxed venue with good food in a great spot. Worth a visit!
