We have been patrons of Fisherman’s since it opened and have had many family functions, birthdays, anniversaries etc. in this lovely setting. The service has never been great but the food always made up for this and being a Kommetjie resident for many years understood and enjoyed the laid back and relaxed atmosphere! Last Sunday we took friends from Ireland and had told them all about this lovely restaurant that was well priced with really good food. Well, what an embarrassment and huge disappointment. The mussel starter that has always been a great one, had the grand total of 6 miniature mussels in a lot of lovely creamy sauce. Really below average and there needed to be double the amount of muscles to make it a reasonable starter. We then had the calamari Patagonia tubes. I have had this meal many times and although it tasted very nice as always, the portion had shrunk to that of a starter. Our Irish friend had scampi that was literally a shrimp in a lot of batter! Overall we were very disappointed and hope that this was just a bad day! We will visit again in the hope that this is the case, otherwise Fisherman’s has joined the ranks of the restaurants that are just happy to rip off customers.
