I wasn’t really a fan of the wines they had to offer, especially because they didn’t have a large variety – three out of the four wines are reds, two of which are merlot. The staff are very friendly, and it does have a relaxed family atmosphere, with luscious vegetation and beautiful scenery. Service is a tad slow however, and we had to wait a while for the bill.

The location is great, and the wine is good.. when they have it in stock. Eagle’s Nest is a beautiful setting and has a nice selection of wines. However, the service is lacking and can be quite slow. My sister had made a big reservation for her birthday and when we got there they told us they only had the premium wines left (which are a lot more expensive) – even though she had spoken to them just a day or two before. I don’t usually complain about once-off cases like these, but the last two times I’ve been there, they have been somewhat unaccommodating.

Eagles’ Nest has a wide variety of wines for tasting each with its own personality and beautiful taste, each exploding in your mouth with flavor. We really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone interested in getting to know a little bit about wine. The setting of the wine tasting is honestly a pleasant surprise with a majestic garden setting providing the tranquil ambiance that goes perfect with the wine. Our rating: majestic and beautiful

It was a friend of mine’s birthday on the weekend and she’s not originally from Cape Town. We booked a wine tasting for over 12 people who were all eager drinkers and wanted to learn about the wines. We received no information about the wines, we were poured the smallest amount of wine to taste I’ve ever had before, we waited an HOUR in between wine number 2 and wine number 3. The waiter had an attitude and the entire experience was a disaster. He wanted us all the hand in our wine glasses to the front of the table for refills instead of walking around pouring for us into our own glasses individually and mixed all of the glasses up. We paid a fortune on food and there wasn’t enough food for the price. The wine selection is also extremely minimal (I couldn’t even find an MCC) and there were no alcoholic alternatives to wine anywhere! Most places have at least beer on tap or gin and tonic for the men who aren’t big wine-drinkers? All in all, after this unpleasant experience at Eagle’s Nest, I will no longer consider returning for wine tasting any time in the near future.
