I met a friend here recently- hadn’t been in a while. Waitress was quite eager so I didn’t check the menu (prices!) like I usually do. My mocha cost R46!!! I’m still in shock 10 days later.. Delicious crunchies – 4 on a plate – only cost R25.
The venue is very nice, the crispy chicken starter was very good. But the truffle fillet was a disappointment. The steak itself was fine, there was no hint of truffle, the onions very undercooked (acidic), there were three lonely button mushrooms and then the mash: this was the real reason for writing a review. There was certainly no butter, milk or cream involved which is strange given it’s described as a purée. From a taste and texture perspective I’d bet some real potatoes were smashed with some instant mash, stored overnight and reheated for service. Whatever the recipe, it was no purée and it was no good.
What a cute place . Definitely a must visit when you in the area. The food is simple but so so delicious. Had breakfast here, their pancakes are to die for and the English muffin breakfast is quite yum.
