We went to the Constantia Clubhouse for lunch today. It is an ideal place for young families with children to run free on the vast expanse of rambling cricket grounds by day. At night it is a drinkers haven. For my partner and l neither ambience appeal. It is not conducive for a couple to have a romantic meal. The huge big bonus appeal and very attractive drawcard is that it is doggy friendly. A good few were roaming around mingling with the people. It really does attract children with a jumping castle. The food is a little pricey. My partner ordered a chicken and leek pie with a puff pastry lid and side salad. The salad was good but the pastry was dry without any puff. The filling was sparse. The meal lacked substance and thus she was not satiated adequately. I enjoyed a beef burger. The patty was homemade which was genuinely evident. It was very tasty. Our friend who joined us had a beef strip salad which she enjoyed. The strips were plentiful. The food was not synchronized to come together which for me is a big No No.There is no attention to decor detail. Its very much a laid back chilled environment. I would not recommend it as a favourite. It is not everyone’s cup of tea.The air was fresh and the setting pleasant. It may suit us personally during the week without the crowds. We werent bowled over.A clever location to draw crowds so l guess they are on a good wicket. I think for us its non repeatable – thus an over.
This outlet is casual and dog friendly too that makes it a good experience. The wine and beer selection is good and the service is satisfactory. The food menu is limited but the quality is fair. On Friday night there’s a live band playing at the restaurant but it is definitely too loud for such a small venue and makes it impossible to have a conversation with your friends.
