Great hidden gem in Constantia. They have amazing desserts. One of the best chocolate fondants I’ve had. Beautiful garden setting. A must visit
This is a beautiful secluded spot in Constantia which I love going to as their service, ambience and desserts are phenomenal. I’ve been to the Conservatory on two ocassions and the High Tea was amazing from the savory treats to all the decadent sweet ones, on another occasion I had a light and fluffy chocolate fondant which I enjoyed thoroughly with some flavored tea.My experiences have always been pleasant and I would definitely recommend this spot.
But first let’s have tea! High tea in the midst of Constantia. Surrounded by birds, squirrals and a mystical forest. The scenery is without a doubt one of the most serene and green surroundings. Five star service for sure and the cakes and other treats were delicious.Very delightful and faultless experience.
I came here for an evening function and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The dishes are an eclectic mix of South African/Cape Malay flavors. The starters was my best dish of the night – wow wow wow! I tried the spicy Cajun calamari, which was cooked crisply and to perfection, with a delicious Cajun sauce that complemented it perfectly. Although I did enjoy my mushroom and lentil bobotie for mains, I didn’t think it was a stand-out dish. I chose the cheese board for dessert, which was tasty but also slightly disappointing – there were only two types of cheeses, and one of the relishes provided did not taste great. The créme brûlée that I sampled was, however, delicious. Great venue, impeccable service and tasty food made the evening one to remember.
The Conservatory, situated adjacent to the historic Cellars-Hohenort cellar, offers diners unparalleled garden vistas from both the sun-drenched terrace and the indoor tables. Carefully constructed around a giant 300-year-old oak tree, The Conservatory is one of Constantia’s finest daily breakfast, lunch and dinner venues. Here the head chef creates hotel classics alongside modern and seasonally influenced dishes. The Conservatory menu places a great emphasis on fresh produce from both The Cellars-Hohenort gardens and local green-friendly suppliers, and this gives it the unique ability to showcase a true taste of the Constantia Valley. Friendly service and an award-winning wine list ensure that The Conservatory offers guests and locals an exceptional everyday dining experience.
