The Victorian Times – CurrentlySituated at the far end of the ‘busy’ main road in Fish Hoek. A block and a bit away from Fish Hoek main beach. If you get lost or struggle for parking, just keep going round and round the traffic circle and hope for the best. Parking can be a bit of a problem on a busy day.The Vic as it’s affectionately known, has been around for ever and a day. It’s had a makeover in recent years but still retains its ‘local is lekker’ vibe.Outside seating, for the warm summer days (cold drafts included) and three indoor sections for the not so warm days. This is Cape Town after all.Two large pub areas with seating – good rugby day spot, and a section for the seasoned and not so seasoned pool players. Slightly cramped for space when playing but always festive. Two pool tables and a fireplace included. TV’s are in abundance, so catching the sport event of the day is no problem wherever standing or seated.Bar and food pricing are comparative and reasonable and there always seems to be a special going, either on the menu or on a specific beverage. Ask and thou shall receive. The menu comprises of an assortment of bar type meals – steak egg and chips, variety of good size burgers, superb rib and chips, large sandwiches and the like. Can’t fault the portions, nor the quality of food served. Might not be served on a silver platter but then again it is a bar and bar food, not being judgmental, is what you get. Not fine dining (No!! Lobster Bisque or Caviar are not on the menu) but food for the hungry.Staff are bar smart, polite and friendly – and work long hours keeping you hydrated and happy. Don’t forget that.In summary. There will be those who will visit once – and talk ill of the venue and then there will be those who visit on a regular basis – and praise the establishment.Whichever you may be, your time at The Vic will be a memorable one.See you one day at the VicThanking YouMr G – Marcus Gibbons
