Well I am sitting here – 11th Oct 2017 – Its 11h36 and I have been waiting to be attended to by the waitron for the last 17 minutes. I am not sure if they are on a Go Slow or that they generally just Go-Slow ¬ It is sad to see that other patrons have experienced the same type of non-Service. I hate complaining and have never written a negative review – so this is awkward and unfortunate. Its now 25 minutes without service. Well I am using the table to do some Internet work from at least . This was my first occasion here and sadly it will be the only one – Au Revoir
I found the food to be quite alright just not for the price. The prices are much higher at the restaurant than online and the service was the worst I had ever received. Management seemed pretty clueless too.
Everyone goes to Builders in Tokai at least once or twice a month and this place has never reached its potential. The service is always slow and sloppy, the waitresses seem to be dragging their feet and moving in slo mo! You wait for a menu, you wait for your order to be taken and you wait for your food. Your bill never comes so you have to get up and pay at the till. The coffee was scaldingly hot, not sure how this is achieved. The Chicken Curry special was bland and tasteless. Improved marginally with lots of pepper, and it was served nearly cold. Michele had the toasted chicken mayo on wholewheat which was good but the chips tasted as if the oil in which they had been cooked had not been changed for some time? Not surprising that only3-4 of the 30 odd tables were occupied at lunch time on a sunny public holiday. Pity!
The coffee was burnt. The scrambled eggs had absolutely no flavour. The service was below average. The ambience was average. The food in general was over priced for the quality of food served. Except the breakfast special which is R29.95 for 2 rashers of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 slices of toast and tomato. But even that will not be a reason for me to go back any time soon.
Sat outside in the sun and it was lovely among the plants.I ordered the cappuccino & scone special for R35.00.It came with butter, strawberry jam and a mound of cream.(Only criticism is that the scone would have been nicer if it was slightly warmed)The cappuccino was great, service was okay and the prices very reasonable.
