I sat downstairs in the restaurant after having a massage at Casuarina Wellness Spa and had a chicken mayo toasted sa which big enough for two! Lovely food, drinks and service in a lovely setting
Had breakfast here quite a few times and I think it is well worth the price. The only thing that bugs me as that half of the food is always cold. The pork sausages are delicous. The mince and pepper dish delicous (but cold). It was also annoying that you have to make your own toast which takes forever as there are so many people at once trying to make toast. You also have to send your bread through twice as the machine does not toast it properly. It was off putting on how busy the breakfasts can get as you have to wait and wait and wait. They should really try and stagger the breakfast at different times especially if there are very big groups which most of the time there was. The service very good, the waiters are very attentive. We did not really have dinner here at all so cannot comment on dinner. We did however have sandiches ones and they charge a whopping R80 for a cheese and tomato sandwich which does come with chips but not very good chips and there is a small salad but not a very good salad. I squissed through their lunch/dinner menu and they are very expensive. ALso had a few drinks at the bar and almost fell off my chair when I got my drink bill so I think drinks wise it is also not pocket friendly.
Had lunch here yesterday..ordered the pan fried scallops – extremely unimpressive i must say..there was no seasoning, the scallops were not fresh and overcooked..i was disappointed to say the least
The staff are attentive for the dawn hour, conscious of your need and to ensure that your hot beverage of choice is always with you. Â The tables can be packed close when filled up on a busy time but with table cloths of white and an extensive array of cutlery, guests know that are being pampered. Â The variety of the breakfast choices is generous, especially for the breads, fruits and hot food. Â Quality preserves are from the Stellenbosch area, Â walnuts and cashew nuts are available and the eggs are meticulously prepared for customers according to their whim and fancy. Â The coffee pouring waiter may seem to be a bit more serious that day but otherwise everyone else feels so relaxed and may not want to leave. Â The breakfast starts as early as 630am if I am not mistaken and goes on till 10am. Â Presentation, presence and peacefulness – those are the hallmarks of the Clipper.
Breakfast was impressive here, with a wider variety of choices than most. Â I also enjoyed the inner decor and retro surroundings. Â The staff in attendance were very obliging with how you wanted your eggs. I appreciated the fruits and croissants section. Very welcoming here to guests, the staff made you feel this was a home away from home. Â Coffee was not that great but the juices were outstanding. Â We also welcomed the variety of preserves, most of which were from nearby Stollenbosch. Â Love to return!
