My husband and I ate there on Sunday (9th November 2019) it was the only thing we had eaten all day and we ended up with severe food poisoning. I paid R500 for lunch only to end up at a 24 hour pharmacy at 3:00am on Monday morning because I was puking my guts out.
Although the service we received from our waiter was fantastic and the food was great. This restaurant is not child friendly at all! No high chairs, having to borrow from wimpy! No crayons to colour in, had to go and buy from pick n pay, no toilets in restaurant, you need to go downstairs into the mall to use the toilet. The lift outside the restaurant to go and change a toddlers bum was filthy stunk of fish, maybe if staff are recommending customers to use the lift, ensure that it is in a hygienic state.
19 July 2019 I returned to this branch to buy the same meal after speaking to representatives from Ocean Basket and was told they would fix the issues I previously had. I was not offered a meal as other food outlets sometimes do when they are at fault. I bought the prawn special and specifically asked for my prawns not to be over done and I also asked for the lemon butter sauce to be put on top of the prawns. My food returned with small dry over done prawns with lemon butter that just looked like melted butter. I am done with ocean basket especially in Cape Town. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Bought 2 prawn specials and the waiter only brought 1 so I had to wait for the other one which resulted in my food getting cold. Was very disappointed but I get that people make mistakes but staying at a near by hotel meant I didn’t have a microwave so I had to eat cold fries. I was happy with everything else.
The dishes were very tasty. Would definitely recommend. The view of the restaurant is appetizing beauty. The fish was very fresh and delicious
