Quay 4 is great ‘kuier’ place at the waterfront that offers you delicious food at normal prices (something that’s a little hard to come by at the V&A). It has a very informal and relaxed atmosphere with great views over the harbour.Their seafood is tasty and they have loads of different options. The service was fine, but nothing special. The only real complaint I have is that the waitress accidentally threw away my sister’s stainless steel straw. She cleared our table whilst we were in the bathroom and we only later realised that the straw wasn’t there anymore. When my sister asked the staff where the straw is, no one could help her. Quay 4 serve their drinks with neon green plastic straws, so I feel that if our waitress paid a little more attention, she would have seen that the straw in that one glass doesn’t look like the other straws. And I get it, accidents happen, and it’s just one of those things, but this incident highlights a much bigger issue: plastic straws in restaurants. Why is a seafood restaurant, which is literally located next to the ocean, still serving plastic straws? Plastic and the devastating effects of it on our seas and ocean life has been in the mainstream media throughout 2018. We all have to do our bit to lessen the amount of plastic being manufactured, and eventually dumped into our oceans. Restaurants have to either provide incentives for the public to bring their own eco-friendly straws, or provide alternatives to plastic straws. So in conclusion, I had a very enjoyable time at Quay 4. The food was delicious, the view was superb and the relaxed atmosphere was great. But the straw incident just reminded me that we as consumers, we the general public will have to demand restaurants to get with the times, to stop using plastic utensils, and to remember that you should do anything in your power to make your customers happy.
Went in for some seafood as i heard it was pretty good here. Took some deep fried calamari which i thought needed more breading and was a bit oily.Prawns were floury and not fresh. Sent them back and the second batch was a bit better. Prawns also lacked flavour. Peri peri sauce really saved the day and the lemon butter was awful. Probably made with margarine and flour by the looks of it. I wouldn’t bother going again.
