We visited Giulio’s for lunch. I had seen pictures of the pizza which I thought looked great and the reviews were really good with a high rating. The experience we had was far from it and the worst we experienced on this trip to Cape Town. The restaurant while pretty is cramped and the small tables and chairs are uncomfortable.I ordered the margherita pizza which when it arrived had already been sitting on the warmer for ten minutes and the cheese had gone cold. The pizza was very average, the tomato base tasted straight out of a can.We also order the chicken pesto pasta which came with Parmesan. A very bland tasting dish that barely tasted of pesto with pieces of chicken that wasn’t even seared or seasoned. The portion sizes are also quite small. We requested chilli because we had seen it on pictures as well as it being an extra charge if you ordered takeaway. This request was met with serious annoyance. It took twenty minutes for someone to cut a chilli in a few pieces and for the owner to come and literally throw it on our table.Service here was dismal. We were left thirsty as our table was ignored and it took a long time to get the waiters attention to refill drinks. This despite the fact that they force you to order two mimosas so they should already know what the next drink is. We asked for the bill and we were ignored and had to ask for it again. This is a place to visit if you are friends with the owner because then you will get exceptionally great service and attention. Otherwise be prepared to be ignored. The shockingly rude service, even for Cape Town and the bland food make it a restaurant I would not recommend or return to. Overall the food was a 2.5/5 and the service was a 0/5.
Had breakfast there for a friend’s birthday and tge food was phenomenal. The service was a little bit slow, but in all fairness we were a large group. The restaurant is beautiful, full of bright natural light and greenery. Couldn’t reconmend this place more highly.
A modern bustling small restaurant in the CBD. It was extremely noisy upon entering as it was full. The food was good. And coffee delicious! Definitely not for a relaxing morning but a great stop for eat and go. Staff and owner were very attentive.
