Masala Dosa has been around over 40 years and here’s why!Immediately you’re met with a warm fuzzy feeling, partly from the warmth and smell of freshly cooked INDIAN food. Although not the most typical as they specialize in DOSAS.The restaurant has such a lovely vibe although not the most modern decor but when you see other Indian people dining here – then you know it’s authentic cuisine and understand their style theme! What’s different? They have a VEGAN MENU!The STANDARD menu has lots of unique Indian dishes on it such as lentil doughnuts, Chocolate dosa for dessert. There’s an array of salty and sweet lassis (even a vegan option) I absolutely loved the salty lassi however most people would prefer a sweet one such as mango or chocolate. There are gourmet health lassis too.The manager is very kind and knowledgeable and recommended a few dishes.Food was served quick, most were eating traditional way with their hands.Price point very reasonable and portion size of the dosa was large & filling.Recommendation: Aloo bombs – divine potato rice cheese balls with a chili Centre (on the sour side if you like)Traditional masala dosa – a popular spiced potato dosa (rice and lentil crepe – gluten free, wheat and fat free!)Really impressed overall, all managed by 2 people who seem to work really hard to make this place magical.I’d highly recommend this little Indian restaurant in the city.
Missing Indian food brought us to dinner at this quaint Indian restaurant. Quite for a Wednesday evening, service was a bit slow though. We ordered vada and sev puri to share for starters, the chutneys were good. Sev puri was tasty however the masala dosa for main and sambar was average. I have had much better South Indian food in Johannesburg. Not sure if I will be back.
Dosa prepared was okk but lacked taste of potato subzi, chutney. Chutney tasted stale. Should improve service, dishes not explained even after questions. Bit strange. Hope to improve.
The food was stale and tasteless.I personally did not like this place at all. It was overpriced and the food they serve here is definitely not Indian. Nothing here was even close to Indian cuisine.
