I was in a decadent (sic) mood and this place with its clever little name always looked so inviting that I stopped by on my way home and ordered an Irish Coffee (R45) and an Eton Mess (R50).The decor is done in monochrome with a warm golden mustard contrast. The coffee arrived first. Either it had been blended or stirred (see photo), but it tasted fine if a little lukewarm. What put me off were the drips on the side and bottom of the glass. Didn’t the maker/waiter notice it, I wondered? The (pricey) dessert arrived. It looked pretty delicious, however it had too much cream and too little fruit and meringue in the mix. In fact, I felt quite queasy afterwards.Such a pity. I’d hoped to discover another inner city gem, but when I left, all I noticed were the scruffy looking guests smoking on the porch.
Perfect spot nestled in Down town. Great for after work drinks and snacks. They are really amazingly priced and have great specials. Even have live entertainment. I say give it a go.
If there is one thing to commend, that would be the staff – they were wonderful. Friendly, professional and great sense of humour. It helped with the overall dining experience. At our table, one of us had the steak which seemed to be the best choice as this was the winner dish. I had a potato and onion (or leek) soup but it was more oniony than a proper potato & onion soup. I also did not like the bread served with the soup. The following day, for breakfast, it was a lovely offering with sausages, baked beans, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, fruits, cereals and bread. The freshly pressed orange juice, the eggs and the sausages did not disappoint but the rest was not particularly great. It was not bad, but not great if that makes sense. It’s a nicely decorated venue though, so I probably might go there again as they have air-con which is ideal during the hot summer days. The staff though truly impressed me – well done all and keep being so friendly and attentive to your customers.
Nice little restaurant in the middle of Downtown Cape Town. Beautiful outside area and very simple but nice inside decor. I came here for a quick coffee to send some mails and it did not disappoint. The coffee is not anything fancy but it’s tasty and costs R9.The wifi is amazing and service excellent.Everything this Cape Town man needs. Will definitely be back to try some food.
