The Cape Sun is a magnificent city hotel smack bang in the middle of Cape Town city central and Riempies is a fab traditional upmarket restaurant to experience typical Cape Cuisine. Definitely go for a quick trip up the lift for the best views in Cape Town, unhindered perfect views of Table Mountain which feels so close you can touch it!
Some of the staff are great, the food is middling, but grossly over-priced. I had a lemonade, and was given one tiny can and charged more than a glass of excellent wine at a fine restaurant ; and similarly, for a very modest evening buffet I was charged more than I had aid for lunch or dinner at 2 fine restaurants. The chief problem is that now the hotel takes very large tour groups ( and remember there is only the one fairly small restaurant for a really large hotel ) it encourages these large tribes to dine all at once, and linger on to chat and make speeches, or whatever they please : totally blocking the whole restaurant so other residents cannot eat there, or must wait an hour or more for the possibility of a meal.  This is highly unreasonable. They should feed such large groups in a function room, or require them to eat in smaller size groups at different times.
We were greeted by an amazing hostess. We had the buffet dinner, which was an absolute spread. The waitresses and chef’s were all super friendly and professional. Food was a little peppery but overall delicious.
Starting with the bad, the waiters could have been more attentive to their guests. I had the buffet here and it was good. Cost effective and delicious food, barring the chewy steak. I loved their wide range of salads on offer. They also had a variety of desserts, I love good bakes. Plus, their setting is cosy and quiet, which allows you to enjoy your company. I will visit here again.
